Elements of Art

Art is created by arrangement and manipulation of basic visual and conceptual properties

that are common to visible objects and experience.

Elements of black-and-white drawing include:

Light, Line, Composition, Contour, Value, Shape, Form,

Space, Texture, Proportion, Perspective, Media, Conception, and Meaning.

Drawing in color, and color media such as painting

involve all of these plus the Elements of Color.

You are responsible for a thorough knowledge of these elements:

Line, Shape, Form, Volume, Space, Value, Composition, Texture.
